Semtech and UnaBiz Partner to Integrate Sigfox 0G with LoRa Platforms, Enhancing Global IoT Connectivity

LoRa-Unabiz

Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading provider of high-performance semiconductors, IoT systems, and cloud connectivity services, has announced a strategic collaboration with UnaBiz, a prominent Massive IoT service provider and integrator. The partnership aims to integrate Sigfox 0G technology into Semtech’s LoRa Edge and next-generation LoRa Connect platforms, enabling customers to develop innovative solutions that combine the benefits of both LoRaWAN and Sigfox 0G technologies.

The integration of Sigfox 0G technology into Semtech’s LoRa platforms will open up new possibilities for global IoT use cases, particularly in industries like supply chain and logistics. The combined technologies will facilitate ultra-low power geolocation, allowing for enhanced asset management capabilities across diverse applications.

Semtech’s LoRa technology has already gained widespread recognition as the preferred IoT platform for private LPWAN (Low Power Wide Area Network) applications. The LoRa Edge and LoRa Connect transceivers offer exceptional radio performance, multi-band connectivity, and low power consumption. These cost-effective platforms have found substantial utility in IoT and geolocation applications within the unlicensed LPWAN market.

By bringing together the Sigfox and LoRaWAN ecosystems, this collaboration leverages the strengths of both technologies, creating a seamless and extensive LPWAN network footprint across the globe. The Sigfox 0G network, which spans over 70 countries, will be integrated with Semtech’s LoRa Cloud geolocation, promising simplified IoT deployments and extended global availability for developers to craft cutting-edge solutions.

UnaBiz’s recent inclusion as a Contributor member of the LoRa Alliance has further solidified its position in the LoRaWAN ecosystem. In April 2023, UnaBiz opened the Sigfox device library to the public and IoT community, fostering collaboration with various IoT communication technologies to drive sustainable business growth. The successful validation of Sigfox 0G technology with Semtech’s LoRa Edge platform marked a crucial milestone in this cooperation.

Tom Mueller, the executive vice president, and general manager of Semtech’s IoT System Products Group expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to provide customers with top-notch solutions for ultra-low power connectivity, security, and cloud-based geolocation. He emphasized that the unified platform would offer the best available network coverage globally, particularly benefiting logistics and asset tracking with features like ultra-low power Wi-Fi and GNSS sniffing.

Remi Lorrain, Vice President of Convergence at UnaBiz, highlighted the partnership’s commitment to offering cost-effective and energy-efficient technologies for sustainable IoT solutions. By enabling technology convergence at the device and software level, customers gain the flexibility to select the most effective and relevant connectivity options based on their specific business requirements and sustainability goals.

With this collaboration between Semtech and UnaBiz, the IoT industry can anticipate the development of world-class solutions that will accelerate the growth of IoT adoption on a global scale. The seamless integration of Sigfox 0G technology into Semtech’s LoRa platforms is poised to redefine IoT connectivity and empower businesses to explore new frontiers in the era of the Internet of Things.
