Samsung and VicOne Partner to Boost Cybersecurity for Smart Vehicles

Samsung Semiconductor has partnered with VicOne, a prominent automotive cybersecurity solutions provider, to enhance the cybersecurity of Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). This collaboration leverages VicOne’s advanced intrusion detection and prevention system (IDPS) alongside Samsung’s Exynos Auto V920 System on a Chip (SoC) technology, aiming to set new standards in vehicle security. Together, they intend to provide comprehensive, cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end users, addressing critical safety needs as the industry advances towards autonomous and connected vehicles.

With SDVs playing a growing role in the automotive future, the need for fortified cybersecurity has become paramount. This strategic alliance addresses the evolving cyber threats facing these vehicles by combining the expertise of VicOne and Samsung Semiconductor. VicOne’s xCarbon solution will be integrated with Samsung’s Exynos Auto V920 development board, providing a sophisticated security framework specifically tailored for SDVs.

The V920 SoC family from Samsung Semiconductor will integrate seamlessly with VicOne’s xCarbon IDPS, utilizing the Exynos Auto V920’s neural processing unit (NPU) to enable rapid, real-time detection and response to cyber threats. This level of pre-integration ensures that SDVs are fortified with advanced cybersecurity features from the outset, equipping vehicles to handle a dynamic and challenging threat landscape.

To further strengthen vehicle security, the partnership will create threat intelligence models that monitor data streams from various sensors, electronic control units (ECUs), and communication channels within SDVs. These models will detect anomalies and potential threats, providing essential insights for Vehicle Security Operation Center (VSOC) teams to respond to cyberattacks swiftly. Through this, both individual vehicles and entire fleets will benefit from an elevated level of security and real-time response capabilities.

Max Cheng, CEO of VicOne, emphasized the collaboration’s impact on automotive cybersecurity: “This partnership represents a pivotal moment in automotive cybersecurity. Together with Samsung Semiconductor, we’re poised to redefine SDV security standards. The combined solution not only helps OEMs and suppliers meet regulatory requirements but also provides drivers with the cybersecurity needed for a safe, unclouded driving experience. We look forward to expanding our cooperation with Samsung Semiconductor to further benefit our customers and partners, including initiatives to secure SDV containers and hypervisors.”

Marking a significant step forward, this partnership aims to secure the future of automotive mobility by setting a high bar for cybersecurity in SDVs, enhancing the safety and reliability of the next generation of autonomous vehicles.
