Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ: LSCC), a leader in low power programmable solutions, has launched a groundbreaking motion control reference platform aimed at accelerating the development of flexible and efficient closed-loop motor control designs. This new platform combines Lattice’s secure, low power FPGAs with Analog Devices’ (ADI) robust industrial ethernet connectivity, facilitating multiprotocol designs with enhanced security and precision.
Matt Dobrodziej, Corporate Vice President of Segment Marketing and Business Development at Lattice, expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact of this collaborative solution on smart manufacturing. Dobrodziej highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering intelligent, connected, and efficient solutions to its industrial customers in the era of digital transformation and factory automation.
Key features of the motion control reference platform include low power, small footprint Lattice FPGAs such as Lattice CertusPro-NX and Lattice MachXO3D. These FPGAs come equipped with a dedicated hardened security engine and secure unique ID, ensuring compliance with the European Cyber Resilience Act’s Root of Trust requirements.
Additionally, the platform incorporates flexible and low-power ADI industrial ethernet connectivity, enabling multiprotocol designs with precision analog power conversion technology for accurate speed and power control. Fiona Treacy, Managing Director at ADI, emphasized the potential energy savings offered by this technology, with variable speed drives having the capability to reduce energy consumption significantly.
The announcement coincides with the showcasing of the new motion control board at Embedded World 2024 in Nuremberg, Germany.
