Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) recently revealed its collaboration with Arbe, a significant step in radar chipset testing for automotive applications. Arbe has chosen Keysight’s E8719A Radar Target Solution (RTS) to assess the functionality of its 4D imaging radar chipset.

“Radar target simulation technology plays a critical role in validating radar chipsets during design and manufacturing radar sensor modules,” stated Dr. Noam Arkind, CTO at Arbe. “Our 4D radar chipset offers high-resolution azimuth and elevation imaging, and for testing, we needed a radar target simulator with superior millimeter wave (mmWave) capabilities.”

Keysight’s E8719A RTS provided the necessary features, offering a 5 GHz wide bandwidth spanning the 76-81 GHz automotive radar band and a high spurious free dynamic range. “This solution’s architecture seamlessly integrates into mmWave anechoic chambers for precise and replicable over-the-air (OTA) testing,” added Dr. Arkind.

Arbe intends to use Keysight’s U9361M Rcal receiver calibrator for streamlined OTA calibration and Keysight’s software for automation and insights into the manufacturing process. “Keysight’s advanced radar simulation capabilities assure our chipsets meet stringent safety standards,” mentioned Dr. Arkind, emphasizing the partnership’s importance for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Thomas Goetzl, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s Automotive and Energy Solutions, highlighted their commitment to advancing autonomous and safe driving technologies. “This new RTS solution combines high performance with ease of use, accelerating the testing of 4D imaging radars,” Goetzl affirmed.
