Hailo Chooses VeriSilicon’s ISP and VPU IPs to Enhance AI Surveillance Tech

VeriSilicon Hits 100M Mark: NPU in Global AI Chips

VeriSilicon, a leading provider of semiconductor intellectual property (IP) solutions, has revealed that Hailo, an AI-focused chipmaker based in Israel, has adopted its Image Signal Processor (ISP) IP ISP8000L-FS and Video Processor Unit (VPU) IP VC8000E to enhance its range of high-performance AI vision processors, specifically the Hailo-15TM. The incorporation of these selected IPs is set to facilitate the efficient deployment of Hailo’s cutting-edge AI solutions across a diverse array of applications while reducing time-to-market and engineering expenses.

Designed to cater to advanced and high-performance camera-based applications with dedicated hardware safety features, VeriSilicon’s ISP8000L-FS IP holds certifications from both IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 functional safety standards. This makes it particularly well-suited for safety-critical applications in industrial and automotive sectors. The ISP IP offers robust video processing capabilities, accommodating a single 4K@60fps camera or dual 4K@30fps cameras. It also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range) processing and incorporates 2D/3D noise reduction technologies, ensuring high-quality and reliable video processing.

The VC8000E, VeriSilicon’s video encoder processing unit, excels in compact storage of multiple video streams for subsequent playback and machine learning purposes. With its flexibility in selectable video formats, color bit-depth, and user-controlled encoding parameters, it allows for tailored video encoding solutions adaptable to a wide range of scenarios.

Ori Katz, Director of Vision Processor Products at Hailo, expressed the significance of this collaboration, stating, “By integrating VeriSilicon’s ISP IP with the high-efficiency video encoder IP, our AI Vision Processors are poised to lead the way in making surveillance and industrial applications smarter, safe, more reliable, and accurate.”

Wei-Jin Dai, Executive VP and GM of IP Division at VeriSilicon, emphasized the competitive nature of the surveillance market and the need for efficient solutions. Dai stated, “VeriSilicon’s powerful and flexible IP solutions are designed to efficiently tackle challenges such as low latency, power consumption, and DDR minimizing. We are honored to work with Hailo on empowering the fast-growing AI surveillance cameras market and other industrial domains under a long-term partnership.”

The collaboration between VeriSilicon and Hailo underscores the critical role that advanced semiconductor IPs play in advancing AI applications, particularly in surveillance and industrial sectors. The incorporation of VeriSilicon’s ISP and VPU IPs into Hailo’s AI vision processors represents a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of surveillance systems and other related technologies.
