Diodes Incorporated (NASDAQ: DIOD) has announced the expansion of its DML30xx series smart load switches, introducing four new products: DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, DML3011ALFDS, and DML3012LDC. These devices offer high-current power domain switching control, supporting voltage rails from 0.5V to 20V and current ratings from 10.5A to 15A. They are designed to enhance power management for a variety of applications, including servers, computing hardware, and networking infrastructure.
The new load switches feature a chip-on-chip architecture, with the controller chip stacked on a low RDS(ON) N-channel power MOSFET, resulting in a compact footprint that increases power density. Their large underside heat pads enhance thermal efficiency, reducing operating temperatures and improving reliability. These switches are designed for low power consumption, with typical on-state current at less than 150mA and standby mode at 0.1mA.
Integrated features reduce the need for additional circuitry, minimizing component count, PCB area, and time to market. The load switches include safeguards and monitoring options such as short-circuit and overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, power good signal, and soft-start to manage inrush current. They also offer quick discharge capabilities for controlled power-down and thermal shutdown protection for system reliability.
The DML3008LFDS, DML3010ALFDS, and DML3011ALFDS are available in V-DFN2020-8 packages and are priced at $0.75 each for 3,000 units. The DML3012LDC, available in a V-DFN3030-12 package, is priced at $1.07 each for 3,000 units.
