Compact SoC from NOVOSENSE Targets Auto Lighting Systems

NOVOPR012

NOVOSENSE Microelectronics, a high-performance analog and mixed-signal chip provider, has unveiled its latest automotive-focused innovation—the NSUC1500-Q1. The new System-on-Chip (SoC) is designed to streamline ambient lighting systems for vehicles, offering a compact and cost-effective solution for automotive OEMs and module developers.

Targeting a range of applications including taillights, interior lighting, EV charging door indicators, and RGB/RGBW-based body lighting, the NSUC1500-Q1 integrates multiple functions into a single chip. NOVOSENSE aims to address growing market demand for intelligent, space-efficient lighting solutions amid rising vehicle electrification and customization trends.

“As the demand for interior ambient lighting increases, OEMs face ongoing challenges in delivering accurate dimming, color mixing control, and thermal reliability,” said Feng Gao, Product Line Marketing Manager at NOVOSENSE. “The NSUC1500-Q1 reduces system complexity down to a single chip, saving PCB space and lowering BOM costs.”

Built around a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 core, the chip features 32 KB Flash, 2 KB EEPROM, and a 15 KB ROM, along with dedicated memory for runtime operations. It includes four LED driver channels, each delivering up to 64 mA with 16-bit PWM output control. Additional features include a 12-bit ADC, integrated temperature sensor, and voltage monitoring for LED performance compensation over time and varying temperatures.

To facilitate in-vehicle networking, the SoC includes a LIN transceiver and controller supporting LIN 2.x and SAE J2602 standards, complete with auto-addressing and software update capabilities via a ROM-based UDS bootloader.

The NSUC1500-Q1 is available in QFN-24, SOP8, and HSOP8 packaging, supporting a voltage range from 6 V to 28 V.
