Universal Robots, a Danish provider of collaborative robotics, has expanded its product range with the introduction of a new 30 kg payload cobot, UR30.

The UR30, following the award-winning UR20, is the second release in Universal Robots’ latest series of advanced cobots. Utilizing the same architecture as its predecessor, the UR30 offers impressive lifting capacity and precise motion control within its compact design. Despite its size, it excels in accurately placing heavier payloads, enabling faster operations and increased load capabilities.

The UR30’s introduction holds significance for various applications, including machine tending, material handling, and high torque screw driving. Its enhanced payload capacity allows for concurrent use of multiple grippers, streamlining processes in machine tending by reducing changeover times and maximizing productivity.

In addition, the UR30 is primed to support high torque screw driving tasks effectively. Capable of handling larger, high-output torque tools and featuring a steady mode function, it ensures consistent and accurate screw driving, particularly beneficial in automotive manufacturing.

The 30 kg payload capacity positions the UR30 as an apt choice for material handling and palletizing heavy products across industries. Its compact size facilitates seamless integration into workspaces, easing the burden of laborious lifting tasks typically performed by humans. Weighing only 63.5 kg, its mobility between work cells adds to operational flexibility.

Kim Povlsen, President of Universal Robots, expressed the company’s perspective on this launch, stating, “The UR30 signifies increased payload capacity and flexibility, marking a new phase in automation. Industries worldwide are embracing agile manufacturing and production modularity. Despite its payload, the UR30 offers mobility, catering to this need.”

He further added, “As industries evolve, the UR30 anticipates changing demands, enabling businesses to adapt effectively. This launch reflects Universal Robots’ commitment to advancing automation possibilities.”

The UR30 is currently available for pre-orders and is scheduled to commence shipping in the first quarter of 2024.
