Responding to a growing demand for specialized robotic applications in the petroleum industry, Beta Tank Robotics Pvt. Ltd. (BetaTANK) has unveiled plans to diversify its robotic solutions catering to the challenges of the oil sector. The company’s unique use of hydraulic control and propulsion systems distinguishes its offerings from conventional electronic-based solutions.
With a focus on adhering to the rigorous safety and explosion-proof standards of the oil industry, BetaTANK has garnered attention for its petroleum tank robots. These robots are tailored for tank maintenance and cleaning tasks, filling a crucial need in an industry characterized by hazardous environments.
DC Sekhar, CEO of BetaTANK, a former Merchant Navy Oil Tanker Captain, emphasized that the expansion of their robotic portfolio stems from the valuable insights and expertise gained through the development of their initial crude oil robot projects. He noted that this knowledge forms the foundation for adapting and customizing robotic solutions to meet the evolving demands of the industry.
While the primary application of BetaTANK’s robotic solutions lies in the petrochemical industry, the company’s ambitions extend beyond tank maintenance. The recent recognition at the Indian Energy Week, where BetaTANK was honored with the Best Start Up Award, highlights the growing interest and potential of their offerings.
Two significant robotic solutions are currently in the prototype stage. The first addresses the need to clean accumulated sludge in large crude oil storage tanks at refineries. The second is designed to tackle the cleaning of underground tanks at retail outlets. Notably, the crude oil tank robot has progressed through safety approvals and is poised for an imminent launch.
A standout feature of BetaTANK’s crude oil tank robot lies in its compact design, enabling it to navigate beneath heating coils—a task that traditional solutions struggle with. Moreover, the incorporation of an on-board pump equips the robot with the ability to effectively handle dense sludge, offering a promising alternative to conventional vacuum truck approaches.
Sekhar underscored that the key motivation behind their robotic solutions is to mitigate the risks associated with human involvement in tank cleaning operations. The utilization of advanced robotics not only streamlines processes but also significantly enhances safety measures.
As BetaTANK prepares to introduce its innovative crude oil tank robot and continues to refine its portfolio, the future of tank maintenance within the petrochemical sector appears to be undergoing a transformation. The industry watches closely as Beta Tank Robotics Pvt. Ltd. pioneers a new era in robotic solutions for the challenges faced by the oil sector.
