Teledyne e2v HiRel Unveils New Low-Noise VCOs for Space Applications

TDVC0015-27_Combo

Teledyne e2v HiRel, a leading provider of high-reliability electronic solutions, has introduced two Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) designed specifically for low earth orbit (LEO) space applications and other demanding environments. The TDVCO015 and TDVCO027, built using GaAs InGaP Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) process technology, deliver exceptional phase noise performance. These VCOs integrate resonators, negative resistance devices, and varactor diodes, providing superior phase noise performance across temperature ranges due to their monolithic structure.

The TDVCO015 covers a frequency range of 13.32 – 15.20 GHz and offers a typical phase noise of -115 dBc/Hz at a 100 kHz offset. On the other hand, the TDVCO027 operates within a frequency range of 23.32 – 27.34 GHz and provides a typical phase noise of -98 dBc/Hz at a 100 kHz offset. Both VCOs are available in a compact 5 mm x 5 mm, 32-lead Ceramic QFN package.

Mont Taylor, Vice President and Business Development Manager at Teledyne e2v HiRel, highlighted the increasing demand for RF synthesizers in higher frequency bands and emphasized that these VCOs are the first of many devices in a family of offerings that will meet the evolving requirements of customers for space-qualified components.

Teledyne e2v HiRel’s comprehensive portfolio of RF, Power, and semiconductor solutions, along with related services, cater to the unique needs of the space industry. For more information on their space offerings, interested parties can visit the Teledyne Defense Electronics website.

The newly announced VCOs are available for immediate ordering and shipment, either directly from Teledyne e2v HiRel or through authorized distributors. All devices are shipped from Teledyne’s DoD Trusted Facility located in Milpitas, California.
