Phison Expands PCIe 5.0 Ecosystem with Advanced Signal Conditioning ICs for Data Centers

Phison Electronics, a prominent player in NAND controllers and storage solutions, has broadened its PCIe 5.0 high-speed transmission solutions with the introduction of PCIe 5.0, CXL 2.0 compatible redriver and retimer data signal conditioning IC products. These innovations are strategically developed to address the escalating demands of data infrastructure, particularly in artificial intelligence and machine learning, edge computing, high-performance computing, and other data-intensive applications. The announcement, made at the 2023 Open Compute Project Global Summit, underlines Phison’s commitment to enhancing its PCIe 5.0 data ecosystem.

 

The newly launched PS7201 and PS7202 retimer solutions by Phison are engineered to meet the surging requirements for data performance, adhering to industry standard retimer footprints. These solutions offer advanced signal enhancement for a wide array of PCIe-deployed devices, including NAND flash, GPU, CPU, FPGA, ASIC, DPU, and other accelerator technologies. Featuring high EQ boosting range up to 42dB, integrated AC coupling capacitors, CXL 2.0 compatibility, low latency of 5ns, and support for hot plug and bifurcation, Phison’s retimer solutions provide robust signal integrity across diverse applications.

 

Phison’s redriver solutions, certified by PCI-SIG, offer an equalization range of up to 28.5dB and boast compatibility with CXL 2.0. The PS7101 2-lane redriver, along with the PS7102 8-channel redriver and PS7103 16-lane redriver, supports pin-to-pin compatibility with competing solutions. An exclusive feature of Phison’s redrivers is the unique I2C modes of operation, enabling independent parameter tuning for different frequencies and materials. This capability ensures optimal compensation for signal attenuation, enhancing signal transmission reliability.

 

Phison’s proprietary PHiTUNE tool, coupled with the Phison E26 PCIe Gen5 SSD, enables automatic detection and optimization of gain parameters, significantly reducing R&D time. This unique tool employs artificial intelligence to fine-tune parameters, ensuring optimal signal transmission in various environments.

 

Phison’s partners, including ASRock Rack and Giga Computing, have expressed enthusiasm about these signal conditioning innovations, emphasizing their impact on enhancing signal integrity and stability in high-speed data transmission for servers and computational workloads.
