With this latest innovation, K&S continues to strengthen its leadership in semiconductor assembly solutions, catering to the growing demand for power modules in renewable energy, automotive, and railroad applications.
The power module market is among the fastest-growing semiconductor segments, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12% through 2029. As these modules increasingly rely on pin-based interconnects for critical power storage and delivery, the need for precise, high-speed, and reliable interconnect solutions has surged. Asterion-PW addresses these demands by leveraging ultrasonic pin welding technology, which is rapidly replacing traditional soldering in critical applications.
The Asterion-PW integrates a high-resolution linear motor positioning system and an innovative, patent-pending Sonotrode design, achieving fine precision in pin placement repeatability. The system is equipped with a high-speed bulk pin feeder and an optional material handling system, ensuring seamless operation. An advanced cleaning station effectively removes contaminants before encapsulation, improving product quality and reliability.
