Renesas Electronics Corporation, a provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, has further solidified its position in the field of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) by integrating its Reality AI Tools with the e2 studio integrated development environment. This strategic move enables a seamless exchange of data, projects, and AI code modules between the two platforms, empowering designers to streamline their workflows and accelerate the development of AI and machine learning (ML) applications at the edge and endpoint of IoT networks.

The development marks a significant milestone for Renesas, which acquired Reality AI in 2022. Since the acquisition, the company has been dedicated to enhancing and simplifying AI design processes. Reality AI Tools, a software environment designed to support the entire product development cycle of AI applications, automates the exploration of sensor data and the generation of optimized models. Now, Renesas is bridging the gap between Reality AI Tools and the e2 studio environment, which is widely used for programming Renesas MCUs.

One of the key features of this integration is the ability to seamlessly transfer sensor data collected from Renesas MCU development kits, visualized, and labeled in e2 studio to associated projects in Reality AI Tools with a simple button press. Moreover, users now have the capability to download and incorporate AI/ML classifiers generated within Reality AI Tools directly from the e2 studio interface.

Mohammed Dogar, Vice President of Global Business Development and Ecosystem at Renesas, emphasized the importance of real-world sensor data in building successful AI applications. He stated, “Successful AI implementations are built by developing and training models with real-world input from sensor data. By providing seamless data sharing between our Reality AI Tools and e2 studio products, we’re providing the market’s best solution to enable designers to quickly build accurate and powerful AI applications.”

Beyond data transfers, Renesas is fostering cross-platform project coordination between embedded and AI environments. Users can now synchronize and transfer project lists between e2 studio and Reality AI Tools. Additionally, they can associate an e2 studio project with a Reality AI Tools project and initiate the creation of a new Reality AI Tools project from within the e2 studio environment. A video demonstration of these processes is available for customers seeking a quick overview.

Renesas is also committed to expanding its library of application examples and reference solutions, developed internally and in collaboration with ecosystem partners. This library currently encompasses over 30 reference solutions, addressing use cases spanning real-time analytics, vision, and voice applications.

To further engage the AI community and foster knowledge sharing, Renesas will host “AI Live” on October 12, 2023—an online, half-day event dedicated exclusively to AI-related topics. The event will feature keynote speeches from industry executives and experts, alongside a dynamic roundtable discussion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to choose from a range of tech talks, delving into various facets of AI technology.
