Quectel FGH100M Module Receives CE & FCC Nod

Quectel Wireless Solutions and Morse Micro jointly introduced the Quectel FGH100M Wi-Fi HaLow module, a groundbreaking development in IoT connectivity. The module has achieved both European CE and US FCC certifications, highlighting its adherence to rigorous safety, health, and environmental standards.

Powered by Morse Micro’s MM6108 SoC, the Wi-Fi HaLow module’s dual certifications pave the way for its deployment in electronic devices sold in Europe and the United States. This achievement is anticipated to broaden the market reach of Wi-Fi HaLow technology, positioning it for diverse applications across global regions.

Wi-Fi HaLow technology, operating under the 802.11ah standard in the sub-GHz frequency band, is designed to cater specifically to the needs of the IoT. It offers extended range, power efficiency, long battery life, superior barrier penetration, large network capacity, advanced security, and Wi-Fi compatibility.

Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO of Quectel Wireless Solutions acknowledged the importance of the certifications, stating, “Wi-Fi HaLow technology represents the future of global connectivity, and receiving both the CE mark and FCC certification is a testament to the reliability, safety, and interoperability of Wi-Fi HaLow modules. Our collaboration with Morse Micro has been crucial in achieving this milestone and other industry certifications.”

The Wi-Fi HaLow module, with its emphasis on extended range and lower power consumption, caters to various IoT applications, including smart homes, industrial automation, and agricultural technology. This collaboration positions Quectel and Morse Micro as key players in delivering Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow solutions to address the evolving demands of the connected world.

Prakash Guda, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Morse Micro, noted the global acceptance of Wi-Fi HaLow modules, stating, “By securing European CE certification for Wi-Fi HaLow modules, Quectel and Morse Micro have demonstrated the standard’s global acceptance. It’s a major leap forward in establishing Wi-Fi HaLow as a universal standard for IoT and wireless connectivity.”

Quectel’s commitment to security is integrated into the entire development process, from product architecture to firmware/software development. The company follows industry practices and standards, mitigating potential vulnerabilities with third-party independent test houses and incorporating security measures like generating SBOMs and VEX files.

The Wi-Fi HaLow 802.11ah standard, with the certification of Quectel’s FGH100M module, is positioned to play a key role in the future of IoT connectivity. As the demand for long-range, low-power IoT solutions continues to grow, the CE and FCC certifications mark a significant step forward in establishing Wi-Fi HaLow technology as a universal standard for global IoT and wireless connectivity.
