In a move set to simplify IoT device development, Memfault, a key player in IoT reliability, and Golioth, a prominent IoT device management platform, have joined forces. This strategic partnership, unveiled today, aims to provide IoT developers with essential tools, akin to those used by cloud developers, ultimately streamlining processes and reducing time-to-market for NXP Semiconductors.

Through this collaboration, NXP™ Semiconductors developers gain access to a unified, secure connection for instant data routing, core dump analysis, and observability. Memfault’s IoT reliability platform functions as a diagnostic tool, enhancing device quality and accelerating production timelines. It offers proactive device monitoring, identifying and resolving issues remotely before users are affected, thereby complementing device management solutions. Golioth’s instant IoT cloud allows developers to rapidly connect, capture, and route device data, expediting the prototyping of connected sensors and enabling rapid scaling of device fleets.

In practical terms, Golioth operates as the control/application plane, facilitating secure two-way messaging for developers’ application layer telemetry. Concurrently, Memfault serves as the diagnostics plane, providing observability through crash analytics and core dump analysis. This integration into embedded applications on NXP devices ensures seamless access to Golioth’s device management services and Memfault’s remote monitoring and debugging capabilities.

François Baldassari, CEO of Memfault, underlined the collaboration’s core objective: “Memfault and Golioth are devoted to providing firmware teams with superior developer tools, enabling them to expedite product delivery without compromising quality. Our diagnostics solution can be deployed over the Golioth cloud at any stage of the device lifecycle. By integrating robust cloud services, our partnership simplifies processes, fosters innovation, and grants developers precise control and visibility into connected devices.”

Jonathan Beri, CEO of Golioth, emphasized the collaboration’s significance: “Golioth’s focus on resolving the complexities between hardware and the cloud led us to Memfault and its unique ability to enhance and expedite IoT device development. This partnership expands Golioth’s capabilities, enabling new use cases with faster product deployment and solidifying Golioth as a vital partner in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).”

It is pertinent to note that Memfault, Golioth, and NXP are esteemed members of the Zephyr Project, and their seamless integration runs on Zephyr Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), ensuring effortless compatibility and operational stability.
