Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: MX) has officially commenced full-scale mass production of its latest innovation, the 30V MXT LV Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs), tailored specifically for Electronic Control Units (ECUs) within Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems. This cutting-edge MOSFET product has already found integration with a prominent global automaker.

The newly unveiled 30V MXT LV MOSFET holds a critical role in ensuring a consistent power supply to EPS, contributing significantly to a vehicle’s directional control through its electric motor. Notably, this MOSFET meets rigorous AEC-Q101 standards and boasts an impressive operating junction temperature range spanning from -55°C to 175°C.

The product integrates a robust trench MOSFET structure within a thick gate oxide, providing low resistance and exceptional switching characteristics. These features effectively minimize switching noise in various applications, thereby enhancing system performance and ensuring high power efficiency. Furthermore, its compact size, enabled by the PDFN 33 package sizing of 3.3mm x 3.3mm, allows for versatile design options in ECUs.

YJ Kim, CEO of Magnachip, highlighted the significance of this technological leap in automotive innovation. “Magnachip’s introduction of this compact and reliable MOSFET for EPS systems underscores our technological prowess,” stated Kim. He added, “We are dedicated to further establishing our presence in the automotive sector by delivering innovative power solutions with stringent quality standards.”

The 30V MXT LV MOSFET joins Magnachip’s portfolio, known as the Magnachip eXtreme Trench Low Voltage MOSFET (MXT LV MOSFET), encompassing a range from 12 to 40V trench MOSFETs.
