Unchained Robotics Team

Paderborn-based Unchained Robotics recently secured €5.5 million in funding, marking a significant stride in its mission to democratize global access to plug-and-play robotics technology. This fresh investment will power the company’s global expansion initiatives and fortify its services and partnerships.

At the forefront of Unchained Robotics’ innovation is the MalocherBot, a solution offering swift automation capabilities that have already garnered global traction within weeks of its introduction. This technology streamlines processes in logistics and metalworking, making them automation-ready. The influx of capital is earmarked to bolster sales efforts and cater to burgeoning demand for the MalocherBot across diverse applications.

Amidst projections of labor market shortages in Germany, with an estimated 3.7 million people exiting by 2030, Unchained Robotics advocates for consistent automation. A significant majority—69%—of top managers view automation as a compensatory strategy for this anticipated loss.

The recent funding round, led by Future Industry Ventures, Teklas Ventures, vent.io, and existing investors, signifies a strategic push towards democratizing automation. Unchained Robotics aims to render robotics solutions accessible and financially viable, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This mission resonates strongly with both institutional investors and industry veterans.

Founded in Paderborn in 2019 by Kevin Freise and Mladen Milicevic, Unchained Robotics has garnered notable attention for its endeavors. Situated in East Westphalia, the company benefits from the proximity to industry giants such as Beckhoff, Phoenix Contact, Weidmüller, and Wago, leveraging the favorable business conditions in Paderborn.

Unchained Robotics’ success in attracting over 200 customers in Germany, including international corporations, research institutions, and SMEs, underscores its impact in offering accessible robotics and automation technology solutions. The company continues to champion the simplification of robotics solutions, drawing from its widespread success and a vision rooted in making automation technology more user-friendly and accessible.
