Renesas Launches RA8T1 MCU Group for Enhanced Motor Control

RA8T1 MCU

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE:6723) has unveiled the RA8T1 microcontroller (MCU) group, featuring the Arm Cortex-M85 processor, to enhance real-time control in motor applications, power supplies, and industrial automation. This introduction expands the breakthrough performance of Renesas’ RA8 Series, delivering up to a 4X performance boost for digital signal processor (DSP) and machine learning (ML) applications, enabling AI functions for predictive motor maintenance. The RA8T1 MCUs, optimized for motor control, offer advanced PWM timing, analog capabilities, and multiple communication functions. Renesas emphasizes the significance of CPU horsepower in high-speed electric motor control, supporting sophisticated algorithms and application software for reliability and security.

These MCUs are part of Renesas’ decade-long commitment to motor control, with a comprehensive portfolio that includes devices in its 32-bit RX Family, 16-bit RL78 MCUs, and 64-bit RZ MPUs. Supported by Renesas’ Flexible Software Package (FSP), the RA8T1 Group MCUs enable faster application development and easy migration of existing designs. Renesas has also combined the RA8T1 MCUs with compatible devices to offer Winning Combinations, providing optimized, low-risk design options for faster time to market.

The RA8T1 Group MCUs and FSP software are now available, supported by the Flexible Motor Control development kit and the Renesas Motor Workbench development tool, facilitating easy evaluation and design implementation. Renesas, the world leader in MCU shipments, with over 3.5 billion units annually, continues to serve various industries with a broad portfolio of 8-, 16-, and 32-bit devices.
