Intel Unveils Record-Breaking i9-14900KS for Desktop Enthusiasts

Intel has once again raised the bar in desktop computing with the official announcement of its Intel Core 14th Gen i9-14900KS processors. Promising to be the world’s fastest desktop processor, the i9-14900KS boasts an impressive max turbo frequency of up to 6.2 gigahertz (GHz), reaffirming Intel’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge performance for desktop enthusiasts.

Building on the success of its predecessors, particularly the industry-first 6.0 GHz Core i9-13900KS, the i9-14900KS is unlocked and pushes the boundaries of CPU frequency even further. With 24 cores, 32 threads, and 36 megabytes (MB) of Intel Smart Cache, the i9-14900KS promises powerful performance for gaming and content creation workloads.

Gamers can expect up to a 15% improvement in performance generation-over-generation, thanks to the blazing speeds of the i9-14900KS and Intel’s Application Performance Optimization (APO) feature. Additionally, content creators stand to benefit from up to a 73% performance improvement in compute-intensive workflows, such as 3D production multitasking, compared to the competition.

Key features of the i9-14900KS include up to 6.2 GHz max turbo frequency with Intel Thermal Velocity Boost, 24 cores (eight Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores), 32 threads, 36MB Intel Smart Cache, and support for up to 192GB of DDR5 5600 megatransfers per second (MT/s) or DDR4 3200 MT/s memory. The processor also offers compatibility with Z790 and Z690 motherboards, with the latest BIOS recommended for the best gaming and content creation experience.

The i9-14900KS comes with expanded support for Intel’s APO, providing up to an 11% performance uplift in supported titles. Intel continues to expand support for APO, which now includes 14 gaming titles.

Available beginning March 14, 2024, the i9-14900KS is priced at a recommended customer price (RCP) starting at $699. It will be available at retailers worldwide as a boxed processor and integrated into systems from Intel’s channel and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, marking a significant milestone in the desktop computing landscape.
