Alphawave Semi, Teledyne LeCroy Unveil PCIe 7.0 Breakthrough

Alphawave Semi

Alphawave Semi (LSE: AWE) and Teledyne LeCroy, leaders in high-speed connectivity and protocol test solutions, revealed their collaborative achievement at DesignCon in Santa Clara, CA. The unveiling showcased PCIe 7.0 signal generation and measurement technology, representing a significant leap in signal transmission and measurement capabilities.

The joint effort by Alphawave Semi and Teledyne LeCroy aims to expedite the adoption of PCIe 7.0 for data-intensive artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, especially in hyperscaler and data infrastructure applications.

In a technical session, the companies presented a Correlation Methodology for 128 GT/s Operation for PCIe Gen 7 DSP-Based IBIS-AMI Models. This featured Alphawave Semi’s Input/Output Buffer Information Specification algorithmic modeling interface (IBIS-AMI). The 128 Gbps DSP-based Serializer-Deserializer (SerDes) performance predictions were made using Teledyne LeCroy’s WaveMaster 8650HD 65 GHz, 12-bit high-definition oscilloscope (HDO) and QualiPHY compliance test software for PCIe 7.0.

The results of the collaboration indicated successful compliance with PCI-SIG PCIe 7.0 electrical base tests, including transmitter jitter, pulse response, and signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio (SNDR).

Following the technical session, a live demonstration at Booth 1249 in the DesignCon exhibition hall allowed attendees to observe simulation and transmitter test validations for PCI-SIG PCIe 7.0 electrical base and compliance test specification requirements. This demonstration marked the first correlation between models and measurements for 128 GT/s data transfers using a 65 GHz oscilloscope, playing a crucial role in supporting the development of the PCIe 7.0 compliance program.

The joint unveiling underscores the commitment of Alphawave Semi and Teledyne LeCroy to advancing high-speed connectivity technology. The breakthrough has significant implications for AI workloads and data infrastructure applications, setting new industry benchmarks.
