LuxCreo, an end-to-end 3D printing solution company, joins forces with renowned sports brand ASICS to unveil the groundbreaking second-generation ACTIBREEZE HYBRID SANDAL. This state-of-the-art performance sandal, specially designed for runners during rest and recovery periods, harnesses LuxCreo’s cutting-edge 3D printing technology, revolutionizing the world of footwear.

The ACTIBREEZE HYBRID SANDAL is the remarkable outcome of years of a collaborative effort between LuxCreo and ASICS, resulting in a series of cutting-edge 3D-printed footwear products, including highly customized options. The previous joint ventures, featuring custom 3D printed flip-flops in 2021 and the fully 3D printed ACTIBREEZE™ 3D SANDAL in 2022, enjoyed overwhelming success, often selling out within minutes of launch.

At the heart of the newly revamped sandal lies its 3D-printed elastic footbed, carefully crafted in an extra-thick lattice structure to provide unparalleled breathability and targeted comfort while maintaining a lightweight profile. The sandal’s cutting-edge design incorporates LuxCreo’s best-in-class 3D printed elastomer, boasting exceptional energy return, resilience, and compliance with AFIRM RSL standards. The elastomer material has undergone rigorous testing, withstanding up to 1 million cycles at 2000 newtons (equivalent to 4 times the average body weight) while experiencing less than 3% change in shape and performance.

The development of this groundbreaking footwear is backed by extensive testing and research conducted by the ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS). Over 30 years, the ISS has scanned the feet of over a million individuals and conducted over 100,000 biomechanical experiments, ensuring that the ACTIBREEZE HYBRID SANDAL meets the highest standards of performance and comfort.

Michael Strohecker, Co-Founder, and Chief Revenue Officer at LuxCreo expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with ASICS is a testament to our shared commitment to forward-thinking innovation. Bringing a consumer hybrid 3D printed footwear product to the market showcases our ability to push boundaries and thrive on excellence. Together, we are redefining possibilities in footwear.”

The ACTIBREEZE HYBRID SANDAL is made possible through LuxCreo’s Smart Factory Production Service, boasting 200 printers available globally. This service offers flexible options and accelerates production by converting digital 3D printing files into high or low-volume, high-mix with low-volume, customized, or just-in-time products. The Smart Factory is revolutionizing production by ensuring consistent manufacturing across batches and achieving high yield across many 3D printers.

Chris Ekman, Senior Manager of Global Product Line Footwear at ASICS, expressed the company’s excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Identifying the perfect collaborator for this venture was a challenging task. We sought a partner who embraced an innovative approach to 3D printed production and possessed superior hardware and material capabilities. We needed a team that could scale up production, had a wealth of experience, and was brimming with talent. LuxCreo has proven to be that partner.”

The launch of the ACTIBREEZE HYBRID SANDAL marks a significant milestone in the sports footwear industry, combining cutting-edge technology with unmatched comfort and performance. With LuxCreo and ASICS leading the charge in 3D-printed footwear innovation, the global sports market can anticipate a new era of customized, high-performance footwear designed to enhance the running experience for athletes worldwide.
