TRU Simulation Debuts Veris VR Flight Simulator for Pilots

TRU-Veris-VR

TRU Simulation introduces the cutting-edge Veris Virtual Reality (VR) Flight Simulator, a groundbreaking training solution for both helicopter and fixed-wing pilots. Unveiled at HAI Heli-Expo, the Veris simulator combines full flight simulator (FFS) features with immersive VR technology, providing a cost-effective and innovative approach to pilot training. Bell Training Academy is set to be the launch customer, using Veris for Bell 505 helicopter training later this year.

An affiliate of Textron Aviation Inc., TRU Simulation + Training Inc. is a Textron Inc. company specializing in high-fidelity training devices for civil and defense customers. Jerry Messaris, VP and GM of TRU Simulation, highlighted the Veris’ compact, cost-effective design, emphasizing its efficiency in the manufacturing process. The simulator aims to meet FAA and EASA certification standards, currently undergoing certification activities.

Chad Sparks, GM of Bell Training Academy, expressed excitement about being Veris’ launch customer for Bell 505 training. Veris features a fully electric six degrees-of-freedom motion base, REALFeel control loading system, tactile cockpit panels, and a VR headset for an immersive flight experience. The simulator includes state-of-the-art components such as TRU’s Image Generator powered by Unreal Engine®, custom-modeled airports, Varjo VR/MR headset, and more.

TRU Simulation, known for its high-fidelity full flight simulators, ensures Veris leverages the same advanced technologies and flight data as its level D FFS counterparts. This allows for a consistent and realistic training experience for both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft types, bringing a higher level of fidelity and accessibility to simulator devices.
