Data Patterns (India) Limited, a leading Defence and Aerospace electronics solutions provider, has recently formalized a Licensing and Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with IN-SPACe, a prominent independent agency under the Department of Space (DoS). This agreement will empower Data Patterns with miniature Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) capability.
The ToT agreement, signed by G. Kuppuswamy, Vice President of Data Patterns (India) Limited, Rajeev Jyoti, Technical Director of IN-SPACe, and A. Arunachalam, Director of NSIL, signifies a significant collaboration between the private sector and the Indian space agency. The technology, developed at the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), represents a pivotal step forward for India’s space capabilities. It is a precursor to ISRO’s upcoming high-resolution SAR satellite, the NISAR, and has been made available for ToT to the industry by IN-SPACe.
G. Kuppuswamy, VP of Data Patterns, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to be associated with IN-SPACe. This technology will enable SAR radar development by Data Patterns, complementing the extensive portfolio of Radars already available from the company. Data Patterns aims to enhance this technology further by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for object detection and classification. This alliance is a significant step toward utilizing India’s space resources more efficiently and expanding space-based activities.”
This collaboration comes at a crucial juncture when the Indian space sector is undergoing substantial policy changes initiated by the Government of India. With the space ecosystem and economy opening up, both Data Patterns and IN-SPACe are poised to leverage their knowledge, expertise, and skills to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
