At the Consumer Electronics Show 2024, Continental has revealed a pioneering leap in automotive technology: the Crystal Center Display. Encased within a Swarovski crystal, this unique automotive display merges style and functionality, potentially reshaping the future landscape of car interiors.

Acknowledged as a CES Innovation Award Honoree, the Crystal Center Display represents a collaboration between Continental and Swarovski Mobility, combining artistry and cutting-edge tech to create a visually striking display for premium vehicles.

Under the guidance of Dr. Boris Mergell, Continental’s User Experience division aims to redefine traditional information displays, striving for more personalized and engaging user experiences within luxury vehicle environments.

Utilizing a 10-inch microLED panel, this display promises exceptional brightness and contrast, housed within a crystal body that offers the illusion of floating content. Swarovski Mobility’s proprietary facet cut adds a distinct three-dimensional appeal, providing automotive designers with a fresh canvas to reimagine high-end car interiors.

Dr. Mergell highlighted the Crystal Center Display’s role in enhancing interaction between humans and vehicle interfaces, transforming in-car virtual assistance systems into captivating visual experiences.

The collaboration between Continental and Swarovski Mobility resulted in a delicate yet sturdy crystal housing, offering a glimpse into the vehicle’s inner workings through its transparent yet tinted crystal. Peter Widmann, Senior Vice President at Swarovski Mobility, emphasized its potential as a significant interaction interface, bridging interior aesthetics and functional utility.

Overcoming technical challenges, Continental seamlessly integrated the microLED display into the tinted crystal panel, creating a unified unit that projects content with an intriguing visual depth.

This advancement in microLED technology by Continental hints at future directions for luxury car interiors, promising more personalized and immersive experiences. As the automotive industry explores new horizons, the Crystal Center Display stands as a testament to innovation, potentially paving the way for an evolved era in automotive design.
