Vodafone Idea said in a statement that it has partnered with two startups – Vizzbee Robotics Solution and Tweek Labs to test their 5G-based solutions on Aerial Traffic Management and Motion Capture System. Winners of the 5G Hackathon organized by IMC 2020 along with the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Vizzbee is based out of Bhopal while Tweek Labs is New-Delhi-based startup.

With Vizzbee, Vodafone Idea will trial Unmanned Aerial Traffic Management and Management Server (Aerobridge) using 5G network to validate solutions such as streaming live video frames from the UAV over the network. It will also demonstrate public safety system and law enforcement application for ground personnel along with performing real-time analytics from data sent via drone, amongst others, said the statement.

While the collaboration with Tweek Labs is to test a full-bodied motion capture suit using 5G technology for applications such as sports training, the statement added. The statement quoted Abhijhit Kishore, COO of Vodafone Idea, “We are conducting 5G trials to identify a range of India-specific use cases that can accelerate the achievement of smart cities, smart enterprises, and smart citizens.”

“5G will not only ensure faster and reliable communication links for drones but will also enable long-range autonomous operations even in dense urban environments. Low latency V2X communication along with real-time image processing on the cloud will help these aerial vehicles reach a new level of autonomy,” quoted Vibhu Tripathi, the Co-Founder of Vizzbee.

“We at Tweek Labs are working towards the mission to make world-class sports coaching available to every aspiring athlete in the country. We are glad to partner with VIL for the 5G could bring about in people’s lives,” added Ananth Sharma, Co-Founder & CEO, Tweek Labs.

Earlier, Vodafone Idea joined hands with Larasen & Toubro for testing and validating smart city solutions based on 5G. The telecom giant also tied up with Itlay’s Athonet to test and develop industry 4.0 use cases using high-speed, low-latency technology.
