Silicon Integration Initiative announced that it appointed Robert Aslett as president and chief executive officer. He is responsible for elevating the profile and impact of Si2 to be an indispensable partner for improving efficiencies through IC design flow integration and standards development in the semiconductor industry.
A former Intel engineering vice president and general manager, Aslett has over 30 years of experience leading global technical organizations. At Intel, he held multiple leadership roles in strategy, research, development and support of electronic design automation (EDA) software, methods and flows for designing and validating integrated circuits. He led Intel’s central design technology organization responsible for providing and integrating a complete set of EDA software applications, flows and integrated systems that spanned system level, architecture, RTL, circuit and physical design. For 10 years, Aslett also led the Strategic CAD Labs and was responsible for researching and delivering novel software algorithms, applications and design methodologies.
After leaving Intel, Aslett became an investor partner with Social Venture Partners of Portland, a leader in applying venture philanthropy to create social impact. Through his work with SVP, he applied his management and leadership skills to multiple nonprofit enterprises to increase their organizational capacity. For the past two years, he was a guest lecturer at Portland State University’s graduate class for Engineering and Technology Management, which utilizes the book he co-authored, “A Perspective on Holistic Engineering Management.”
“Rob has a proven track record of successful leadership in the semiconductor industry, broad understanding of the EDA market and demonstrated ability to drive innovation and growth,” said Pankaj Kukkal, Si2 board chair and vice president, Global SOC Enablement Team, Qualcomm Technologies. “We are fortunate to have someone with the depth and breadth in EDA and Design as the new CEO.”
