Mitsubishi Electric has taken a significant step to enhance its skill development initiative in India by expanding its Semiconductor and Devices Lab program. The company, known for its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) aligned with the Government of India initiatives and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, has been actively supporting skill development, community development, good health and well-being, and climate action projects across the country.
As a leading player in the semiconductor industry, Mitsubishi Electric India has been catering to diverse production and manufacturing needs with its electronic and electrical products and solutions. With its extensive operations, the company recognizes the importance of practical learning and knowledge about modern semiconductor techniques and technology.
In line with its vision to disseminate information and practical knowledge about the function and application of semiconductors, Mitsubishi Electric’s Semiconductor & Devices department continues to provide support for the semiconductors and devices lab project throughout India.
In the initial phase of this philanthropic endeavor, the company extended its support to two technical education institutions by providing educational materials and advanced training methods. Moving forward to the second phase, Mitsubishi Electric has prepared educational kits and equipment, which were recently provided to three technical institutions: Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, BMS College of Engineering in Bengaluru, and Institute of Technology, NIRMA University in Ahmedabad. This initiative aims to establish practical knowledge of semiconductor devices as a literary technical project across institutions in India. So far, around 700 students from these colleges have benefited from the program.
The educational materials prepared by the Semiconductor & Devices department include Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) Modules, Silicon Carbide (SiC) Modules, Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs), Dual In Line IPM (DIPIPMs), DIPIPM Evaluation PCBA with controller, IGBT Gate Drivers, and Application notes. These materials have been supplied to the laboratories of the three colleges. Mitsubishi Electric is dedicated to giving back to society and has embraced this partnership to promote technological upliftment in India through its CSR initiative of educating and familiarizing the youth with the technical advancements in the semiconductor industry.
The inauguration of the Power Semiconductor devices setup at the laboratories of these institutions was carried out by Hitesh Bhardwaj, General Manager of the Semiconductor and Devices division at Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd.
During the event, Hitesh expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration with these highly impactful institutions in the field of engineering and technology. He emphasized that this collaboration enables Mitsubishi Electric to contribute to society by providing products, solutions, and improved educational methods for the next generation.
