Kyocera Corporation, a prominent player in the technology and manufacturing sector, has revealed its plans to establish a new Center for Development at its Shiga Yasu Campus in Japan. This strategic move comes as a response to the evolving dynamics of the business landscape, with a focus on reinforcing manufacturing capabilities and driving collaboration among its diverse business divisions.

The proposed Center aims to serve as a hub for production engineering and development functions. By bringing together production engineers from various Kyocera manufacturing sites, the company seeks to enhance its core technologies and manufacturing processes. This collaborative environment is anticipated to facilitate information-sharing, co-creation, and technological training, ensuring a workforce well-versed in the demands of the digital era.

Comprising six floors, the Center’s design reflects Kyocera’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The lower floors will accommodate specialized spaces for production process and equipment development. These areas will feature pilot production lines, providing a platform to explore new technologies such as ceramic molding, dispersion, mixing, firing, and laser processing for components manufacturing. The company’s emphasis on optimizing manufacturing processes for carbon neutrality underscores its dedication to environmentally responsible practices.

The upper floors of the Center will house offices, co-creation cafes, and training facilities. This forward-looking approach aligns with Kyocera’s efforts to equip its workforce with digital transformation skills, essential for the operation of smart factories. The Center’s multifaceted design ensures a holistic approach to skill development, catering to both new engineering recruits and existing employees seeking to enhance their capabilities.

In tandem with Kyocera’s existing research and development bases—Minato Mirai Research Center, Keihanna Research Center, and Kirishima R&D Center—the new Center for Development is poised to synergize efforts and amplify the manufacturing capabilities of the Kyocera Group. This collaborative endeavor signifies Kyocera’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancement and reinforcing its position as a key player in the global manufacturing landscape.

As industries worldwide navigate a rapidly evolving technological terrain, Kyocera’s strategic move to establish the Center for Development underscores its proactive stance toward innovation, collaboration, and sustainable manufacturing practices. This development will likely reverberate not only within the corporation but also across the broader industrial landscape, inspiring others to embrace similar approaches in their pursuit of excellence.
