JVIC Advanced Manufacturing Node Invests Second Round of Grant Awards in Four Projects

Forefront RF Gets £16M to Redefine Connectivity Solutions

At Missouri State University, Jordan Valley Innovation Center (JVIC) Advanced Manufacturing Node announces investment of nearly $4 million in four cutting-edge projects. These projects are Brewer Sciences GVD Corporation and MEMC gets $1,000,000 each while SRC Electrical receives $9,25,000.

These projects will leverage the Missouri NetFlex Node at JVIC and support private sector innovation in the semiconductor industry.

“These projects represent a significant step forward in strengthening Missouri’s manufacturing capabilities and advancing the semiconductor industry,” said Allen Kunkel, associate vice president for economic development and director of JVIC. “By supporting these innovative ventures, we are fostering a vibrant ecosystem for growth in the semiconductor industry and creating new opportunities for the state.”

Committed to its efforts, JVIC’s investments will boost R&D, foster collaboration between industry and academia and create high-skilled jobs in the region.

Brewer Science, GVD Corporation, and MEMC have leveraged previous JVIC Advanced Manufacturing Node awards to enhance their semiconductor capabilities, strengthening Missouri’s role in the industry.

Brewer Science utilized the funding to establish a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility for developing advanced semiconductor materials and acquired cutting-edge tools essential for semiconductor manufacturing and packaging. The company also invested in workforce development, providing specialized technical training to enhance its talent pool. “With a highly skilled workforce and advanced semiconductor materials, Brewer Science will continue to strengthen, expand, and sustain the semiconductor manufacturing industry and ecosystem in Missouri,” said Dr. Andrea Chacko, Director of Packaging Solutions.

GVD Corporation focused on optimizing dielectric materials to improve semiconductor manufacturability and device performance. “GVD is excited about the process and materials advances enabled by this program and looks forward to future collaboration within the Missouri semiconductor technology community,” said W. Shannan O’Shaughnessy, CEO of GVD Corporation.

Meanwhile, MEMC used its award to acquire a critical wafer surface inspection tool, expanding its capabilities as the only U.S. manufacturer of advanced 200mm and 300mm Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) wafers.

These advancements highlight Missouri’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, driven by innovation and strategic investments in advanced manufacturing technologies.

“This helps MEMC to continue its long legacy of advanced semiconductor wafer technology development and manufacturing in Missouri,” said Karla Chaney, MEMC Site Manager.
