IPC is set to host a skill competition on “Hand Soldering” and “Wire Harness” as part of the FICCI program – The Curtain Raiser of AI India Conclave 2023. The competition will be held at FICCI, Federation House Tansen Marg on June 7. It aims to promote specialized skill development in the electronics industry, aligning with the “Make in India” and “Skill India” missions. Supported by various Sector Skill Councils of India, the IPC skill competition initiative encourages technicians’ expertise and recognizes their contribution to the manufacturing sector.
The IPC India Hand Soldering Competition, which has been gaining popularity since its launch in 2011, serves as a platform to honour and felicitate shop floor technicians, who are often underappreciated in organizations. The event has garnered significant attention from a wide range of industries, both from the private and government sectors, highlighting the crucial role of specialized skills in the electronics industry.
To identify the best talents across India, IPC India conducts over 10 semi-final rounds in different cities. Technicians who qualify in the semi-finals progress to compete for the ultimate title of Indian Champion. The winner of the competition earns the opportunity to represent India in the IPC’s World Hand Soldering Championship, showcasing their skills on an international stage.
The competition is organized by IPC India through a dedicated committee, receiving support from member volunteer experts within the industry. Participants are tasked with assembling a functional electronics assembly within a specified time frame. The quality and competence of the assembly are evaluated by Master Trainers, adhering to IPC-A-610H Class 3 criteria. The judges consider factors such as the speed of production and the overall electrical functionality of the assembly.
Last year’s Hand Soldering champion, Raja Sekaran S, set the bar high for this year’s competitors. The IPC Skill Challenge promises to be an exciting and challenging event, highlighting the talents of technicians in the electronics assembly field. As the competition unfolds, anticipation builds to see who will emerge as the next Indian Champion.
Registration for the IPC skill competition is now open. Interested individuals can visit the official FICCI website to complete the registration process and secure their spot in the competition.
