Intel Unveils Major Rebranding Initiative Ahead of Highly Anticipated Meteor Lake Launch

Intel Core Ultra

In a strategic move, Intel Corporation has announced a significant overhaul of its client compute branding, introducing the new Intel Core Ultra and Intel Core processor brands. This major rebranding effort is set to coincide with the imminent release of Intel’s highly awaited Meteor Lake processors.

Driven by a commitment to innovation and technological leadership, Intel is prioritizing power efficiency and large-scale artificial intelligence with products like Meteor Lake. To align with their product strategies, the company has introduced a new branding structure that aims to help PC buyers differentiate between their latest technology advancements and mainstream offerings.

Caitlin Anderson, Vice President and General Manager of Client Computing Group Sales at Intel, emphasized the company’s vision, stating, “Our client roadmap demonstrates how Intel is prioritizing innovation and technology leadership with products like Meteor Lake, focused on power efficiency and AI at scale. To better align with our product strategies, we are introducing a branding structure that will help PC buyers better differentiate the best of our latest technology and our mainstream offerings.”

Key elements of the branding update include:

  • The introduction of the Intel Core Ultra processor brand, representing the epitome of advanced client processors.
  • Streamlining the Intel Core processor brand to encompass mainstream client offerings.
  • Adoption of the Intel 3/5/7/9 processor tiering system, starting with Intel’s upcoming next-generation processors.
  • Evolution of the Intel Evo Edition platform brand to incorporate Evo-verified designs.
  • The introduction of the Intel vPro Enterprise and Intel vPro Essentials device labels for commercial systems meeting the relevant criteria.

The significance of the upcoming Meteor Lake launch cannot be overstated, as it marks a turning point in Intel’s client processor roadmap. Meteor Lake will be the first client processor manufactured on the new Intel 4 process node. Leveraging Foveros advanced 3D packaging technology, it boasts a chiplet design that enhances power efficiency and graphics performance. Notably, Meteor Lake is also the first Intel client processor featuring a dedicated AI engine called Intel® AI Boost.

The restructured branding initiative aligns with Intel’s future client technology roadmap. These changes aim to simplify the process for customers in identifying the most suitable client solutions from Intel’s esteemed partner ecosystem to fulfill their computing requirements. Furthermore, this branding overhaul underscores the enduring significance of the Intel Core brand, which has served as a cornerstone of the PC industry for nearly two decades.
