Intel Names Gokul Subramaniam President of Indian Operations

Intel Corporation has announced the appointment of Gokul Subramaniam as Intel India President. In this pivotal role, Subramaniam will oversee Intel’s comprehensive engineering and design operations in India. His responsibilities will encompass driving innovation, enhancing cross-group efficiencies, and ensuring the efficient execution of Intel products from the Indian site.

 

Subramaniam brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served at Intel for over 11 years. During his tenure, he has held various technical and business leadership positions in product and systems engineering. Presently based in Bengaluru, he serves as the Vice President in the Client Computing Group (CCG) and holds the position of General Manager of Client Platforms and Systems. In addition to his new role as Intel India President, Subramaniam will continue his existing responsibilities of leading Client Platforms and Systems in CCG.

 

Commenting on his appointment, Subramaniam expressed enthusiasm about the engineering expertise present at Intel India. He highlighted the site’s critical role in Intel’s transformation journey and its pursuit of product leadership. His focus remains on leveraging the site’s capabilities to accelerate innovation and uphold excellence in engineering program execution.

 

Subramaniam boasts a strong educational background, holding a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering from the University of Madras. He furthered his academic pursuits with a master’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Texas. Additionally, he completed an executive program in general management from MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also recognized as the inventor on six patents, with five more filed in various areas such as compute, wireless technology, power management, industrial design, system, and software.

 

While Subramaniam takes the helm as Intel India President, Santhosh Viswanathan will continue his role as Vice President and Managing Director of Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group (SMG) for Intel India. Viswanathan will retain responsibility for overseeing Intel’s overall business in India, focusing on driving new revenue streams and growth opportunities for the company.
