Entegris, a prominent supplier of advanced materials and process solutions for the semiconductor industry, celebrated a significant milestone today with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new manufacturing center of excellence in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The event marked the beginning of the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that will play a crucial role in the production of semiconductor-related products in the United States and worldwide.
Bertrand Loy, the President and CEO of Entegris, highlighted the importance of the new manufacturing center in Colorado Springs. He emphasized that the cutting-edge facility will be instrumental in developing products essential to semiconductor manufacturing, an industry projected to reach a value of $1 trillion by 2030. By investing in advanced manufacturing and supply chain operations, Entegris aims to position itself and its customers for success while further solidifying Colorado’s and the United States’ leadership in technology, manufacturing, and innovation within the semiconductor ecosystem.
The new campus, scheduled to commence initial commercial operations in early 2025, will be constructed in phases. In the first phase, a 100,000-square-foot facility will be built to support Entegris’ Microcontamination Control (MC) and Advanced Materials Handling (AMH) divisions. This phase will enhance production capabilities for the company’s most advanced filtration and purification products, as well as wafer carriers, known as Front-Opening-Unified Pods (FOUPs). Furthermore, the manufacturing center of excellence is expected to generate around 600 new jobs over several years, contributing significantly to the local community.
Entegris is committed to investing approximately $600 million in the facility over several years, demonstrating its dedication to long-term growth and development. The company looks forward to collaborating with the city, county, and state authorities to ensure seamless integration of the site and surrounding land into the community while preserving the natural beauty of Colorado Springs.
Bertrand Loy expressed his enthusiasm regarding the commencement of construction, stating, “The start of construction of our new world-class facility in Colorado Springs represents an important milestone for Entegris.” He highlighted that the recent passage of the CHIPS and Science Act will drive the expansion of semiconductor manufacturing in the United States. Entegris’ manufacturing center of excellence will enable the company to play a significant role in supporting this effort. With the new facility, Entegris aims to shorten the supply chain and meet the growing demands of domestic manufacturers more efficiently. The company is delighted to have found a competitive home in Colorado Springs and looks forward to building on its 30-year history in the region while strengthening its leadership position in the semiconductor ecosystem.
Bill Shaner, the President of Advanced Materials Handling at Entegris, expressed excitement about doubling their presence in Colorado and expanding their manufacturing footprint in the United States. He highlighted the company’s commitment to developing critical products for the future, generating new jobs in Colorado, and supporting advanced manufacturing in the country. Shaner expressed gratitude towards the Colorado Springs community, dedicated employees, and local, state, and federal officials for their continuous support, which will drive Entegris’ future innovation.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several community leaders, including Johnna Reeder Kleymeyer, the President & CEO of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation; Chris Jenkins, CEO of Norwood Development Group; Cami Bremer, El Paso County Commissioner; and Yemi Mobolade, the recently elected mayor of Colorado Springs. Their presence showcased the strong support and collaboration between Entegris and various stakeholders in the region.
With the construction of this advanced manufacturing center, Entegris is poised to play a pivotal role in the growth of the semiconductor industry, contributing to the technological advancement and economic prosperity of Colorado Springs and the United States as a whole.
