MiQroInnovation

Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. (TSXV: YFI) (OTC: KPIFF), a player in Wi-Fi Spectrum Slicing technology for residential and enterprise markets, has announced a strategic collaboration with MiQro Innovation Collaborative Centre (C2MI), a renowned semiconductor innovation and collaboration center located in Bromont, Quebec. This collaboration, supported in part by funding from the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), aims to enhance the manufacturability of Edgewater’s next-generation WiFi7 Spectrum Slicing solution for the global residential Wi-Fi market.

In the initial phase of this partnership, Edgewater will leverage C2MI’s expertise and state-of-the-art facility to de-risk the production of engineering samples. This phase is crucial for scaling to volume production, utilizing a trusted supply chain. The collaboration with C2MI provides several advantages for Edgewater Wireless, including reducing production and commercialization risks, access to C2MI’s cutting-edge infrastructure, accelerated development support, and collaboration opportunities with C2MI’s extensive network of scientists, researchers, academics, and industry experts within the semiconductor industry.

Andrew Skafel, President and CEO of Edgewater Wireless, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the proximity of C2MI’s facility to Edgewater’s headquarters. “We are delighted to be part of this North American silicon ecosystem and look forward to tapping the expertise of the C2MI team,” he said.

Marie-Josée Turgeon, CEO of the MiQro Innovation Collaborative Centre, also expressed enthusiasm about working with Edgewater Wireless. “We’re always excited to work with next-generation semiconductor technologies, and Edgewater sure has a great project, targeting global players,” she remarked.

This collaboration is part of Edgewater Wireless’s strategic initiative to on-shore silicon development and commercialization efforts. By bringing the design and verification process closer to home, Edgewater aims for complete domestic development, preparing for prototype manufacturing and lab validation of full-duplex Wi-Fi ASICs. The move aligns with the company’s objective of achieving greater control over its silicon process, supply line, and design and quality assurance efforts.
