Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW), a global technology solutions provider, in collaboration with its engineering services company, eInfochips, has unveiled a strategic initiative—the High-Power Centre of Excellence (CoE)—based in Swindon, United Kingdom. This establishment aims to offer pivotal support to customers navigating the development of high-power solutions, a critical element in advancing electrification and sustainability efforts.
High-power designs play a central role in achieving energy efficiency, making them essential in various net-zero projects, including electric vehicles, renewable energy, battery storage, grid infrastructure, and other crucial applications. However, the complexities associated with high-power electronics design, such as a lack of power expertise, stringent safety and reliability standards, intricate PCB layout, and the requirement for expensive testing equipment, present challenges for innovators in this field.
Arrow Electronics’ High-Power CoE is strategically positioned to confront these challenges head-on. Leveraging extensive high-voltage design expertise, the CoE features a state-of-the-art high-power lab in Swindon and harnesses the expertise of an experienced engineering team from eInfochips. The primary objective is to empower innovators to navigate the intricacies of high-power electronics design effectively.
Murdoch Fitzgerald, Vice President of Global Engineering and Design Services at Arrow Electronics, highlighted the significance of this initiative. “The intensifying focus on decarbonization is propelling electrification. High-voltage electronics stand as a crucial enabler, and with Arrow Electronics, customers have a dependable partner to guide them through this energy transition journey,” stated Fitzgerald. “The Swindon facility boasts configurable power supply capabilities, and the CoE further strengthens this legacy by investing in new equipment and engineering talent. This expansion allows us to offer comprehensive design services from the Swindon facility.”
The High-Power CoE is set to drive innovation by developing cutting-edge products for Arrow’s diverse customer base, including subsidiaries like Richardson RFPD. By expediting and mitigating risks within design cycles, harnessing the power equipment in Swindon, and accessing top-tier engineering expertise, customers can effectively strategize and manage their high-power product roadmap and lifecycles.
