San Francisco-based, Elon Musk owned electric vehicles company, Tesla has introduced the new AMD Ryzen chip in its new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. These vehicle models will also have a 12V li-ion battery instead of an old 12V lead-acid battery.

According to a report in Electrek, a recent leak revealed that the new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles coming to North America will come with the AMD Ryzen chip, with an upgraded media system processor. Previously, the AMD Ryzen chipset privilege was only reserved for infotainment systems installed in the Model S and Model X and the Model Y Performance cars which were made in China’s factory.

Tesla is now replacing the older, slower Intel Atoms with a new AMD Ryzen chip for all its new cars. It also has the plan to swap the 12V lead-acid battery with a 12V Li-ion battery.

The company has started production of the Model 3 and Model Y with those changes in the US., according to the report.

As per Electrek’s earlier report, an independent test in China of the center display in a new Model Y Performance with the new AMD Ryzen chip for the MCU showed an impressive performance update.

As per IANS report, as for the new 12-volt battery, Tesla vehicles have been known to often suffer from 12-volt battery failures. Furthermore, it has been strange for Tesla, a company seen as a leader in battery technology, to still use an old battery chemistry to power its 12v vehicle system.
