Acer has unveiled its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality for its Aspire Vero laptop series, embarking on this endeavor with the launch of the new Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P). Following global standards in carbon footprint assessment and mitigation, Acer is executing a holistic approach throughout the laptops’ lifecycle. Their strategy encompasses meticulous actions at each stage, ultimately applying high-quality carbon credits to neutralize any remaining emissions.

Jerry Kao, Acer Inc.’s COO, emphasized the company’s proactive stance in combatting climate change. Acer’s vision for “conscious technology” is rooted in products designed and crafted with a focus on sustainability for future generations. Beyond product commitments, Acer has aligned with the RE100 initiative, pledging to transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2035, with an ultimate aim of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

From inception, the Aspire Vero laptops have been tailored with eco-consciousness at their core, aiming to reduce their carbon footprint across all facets of production. The latest model, the Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P), embodies this ethos:

Its chassis comprises more than 60% recycled plastic, a significant increase from its predecessor, and eliminates volatile organic compounds, paints, or additives. Additionally, the touchpad incorporates ocean-bound plastic into its surface.

Driven by the latest Intel Core Ultra processors known for their heightened energy efficiency, and featuring Intel AI Boost—an integrated neural processing unit (NPU) providing AI-powered capabilities with minimal energy consumption.

Packaging design emphasizes sustainability, utilizing 100% recyclable materials and repurposable, 100% recycled FSC-certified paper boxes. Collaboration with logistics partners focuses on minimizing emissions from standard sea containers by incorporating biofuel on shipping routes.

AcerSense battery management software optimizes energy efficiency through its four performance modes. Furthermore, the laptops are constructed for easy disassembly, using standard screws to facilitate repair, upgrades, or recycling initiatives.

Acer’s commitment to retiring high-quality carbon credits after implementing these emission-reducing measures represents a substantial step forward in their pursuit of environmental responsibility within the technology industry.
