Keysight Launches RFPro Circuit, Advancing RFIC Design

Keysight Expands FieldFox Frequency Range, Introduces Portable Millimeter-wave Analysis

Keysight Technologies has announced the release of RFPro Circuit, a sophisticated radio frequency (RF) simulation tool tailored to meet the complex demands of modern RF integrated circuit (RFIC) designers. RFPro Circuit targets industries such as wireless, automotive, and satellite, enabling designers to overcome performance challenges within dense 3D packaging.

The W5600E RFPro Circuit introduces a modular architecture that offers a unified environment for multi-physics co-design across Cadence, Synopsys, and Keysight electronic design automation (EDA) platforms. This integration extends to optional electromagnetic (EM) and electro-thermal simulators, facilitating faster design iterations and troubleshooting processes.

Traditionally, RFIC designers encounter difficulties in identifying and addressing multi-domain design issues throughout the design phase. RFPro Circuit addresses this by providing tightly integrated, automated workflows, eliminating the need for designers to master multiple tools.

In addition to EM and electro-thermal simulators, RFPro Circuit offers RF-aware analyses for stability, system-level modulation, and waveform optimization. This empowers designers to optimize designs such as 5G-Advanced power amplifiers for error vector magnitude (EVM), considering EM package parasitic.

RFPro Circuit features standard simulation modes including DC, AC, S-parameter, and transient analyses, along with modulation and stability analyses. It is compatible with Keysight’s extensive catalog of semiconductor process development kits (PDK), ensuring seamless integration with industry-standard workflows.

Joe Civello, Director of RF/uW Products at Keysight EDA, highlights RFPro Circuit’s user-centric design, aiming for flexibility and efficiency in design workflows. RFIC designers can leverage RFPro Circuit to accelerate engineering cycles and shift verification efforts from physical to virtual prototyping.

RFPro Circuit is immediately available for download for the Cadence Virtuoso and Synopsys Custom Compiler environments, with availability for the Keysight ADS environment expected in late 2024.
