DigiLens Inc., a key player in nanotechnology-driven waveguide display technologies, has announced a collaborative partnership with Kaynes Technology India Limited, a leading Electronics System and Design (ESDM) manufacturer. This collaboration aims to scale up waveguide manufacturing, with Kaynes Technology becoming a licensee to support the introduction of DigiLens’ flagship Augmented Reality (AR) device, the DigiLens ARGO, into the Indian market.
Kaynes Technology, recognized for its electronic component manufacturing across diverse sectors, including space research, defense, aerospace, healthcare, and automotive, will be working through its subsidiary, Kaynes Semicon Pvt Ltd, based in Hyderabad.
DigiLens’ optical platform, known for its customizable and cost-effective waveguide-based AR experiences, relies on a proprietary photopolymer and low-cost holographic manufacturing process, providing a competitive edge in terms of cost-effectiveness within the market.
DigiLens CEO Chris Pickett expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the need for a global ecosystem to deliver high-performing waveguides for AR glasses. ‘The partnership aims to address the escalating demand in the AR market, projected to reach $280 billion by 2030, with major industry players such as Meta, Google, and Apple committing substantial investments,'” he said.
Founder & Managing Director of Kaynes Technology, Ramesh Kannan, sees the collaboration as a significant step towards supporting scaled manufacturing of next-gen optical waveguides with DigiLens’ nanotechnology. ‘We are investing in building a world-class OSAT facility in Hyderabad, Telangana, focusing on manufacturing ‘Made in India’ waveguides for ARGO devices and meeting global market demands,'” he highlighted.”
