Eyeris Technologies, Inc., OMNIVISION, and Leopard Imaging, Inc. have jointly developed a production reference design aimed at enhancing safety and comfort within vehicle cabins. This collaboration integrates Eyeris’ advanced monocular three-dimensional (3D) sensing AI software algorithm into Leopard Imaging’s 5-megapixel (MP) backside illuminated (BSI) global shutter (GS) camera, utilizing OMNIVISION’s OX05B image sensor and OAX4600 image signal processor (ISP).

The resulting depth-aware driver monitoring system (DMS) and occupant monitoring system (OMS) production reference design will be showcased during CES 2024 at Leopard Imaging’s booth #9529 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Additionally, Eyeris will present its latest technology by appointment only during CES, offering demonstrations within its vehicle and select automotive tier-one partner locations.

This collaborative effort presents an innovative solution catering to the automotive industry’s need for depth-aware in-cabin sensing data. Eyeris’ monocular 3D sensing AI technology expands the capability of 2D image sensors, including RGB-IR sensors, to deliver comprehensive depth-aware whole-cabin sensing encompassing DMS and OMS data.

The design features OMNIVISION’s OX05B 5MP RGB-IR image sensor and OAX4600 ISP to process Eyeris‘ monocular 3D sensing AI data. This comprehensive production reference design aims to facilitate auto manufacturers and tier-ones in achieving expedited time-to-market, cost reduction, and minimized integration risks.

Modar Alaoui, founder and CEO of Eyeris, noted the collaboration’s significance, emphasizing its turn-key nature in providing AI-based depth-aware DMS and OMS data on OMNIVISION’s RGB-IR image sensor and ISP platform.

Paul Wu, staff marketing manager at OMNIVISION, highlighted the design’s unique capabilities tailored for monocular 3D in-cabin monitoring systems, emphasizing the ISP processing technology and dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) employed for image processing.

Cliff Cheng, senior vice president of marketing at Leopard Imaging, underscored the collective effort to innovate in the automotive in-cabin sensing landscape, showcasing their camera design and imaging solutions.
