MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTSI) has announced the appointment of Murugesan “Raj” Shanmugaraj to its Board of Directors as an independent director, effective January 4, 2024. Shanmugaraj, known for his extensive telecommunications experience, will serve on the Compensation and Nominating and Governance Committees of the Board.
Bringing a wealth of industry knowledge, Shanmugaraj has been instrumental in driving innovation in telecommunications products, particularly in the development of packet switching and optical systems and components. Currently holding the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Coherent Products and Components Group at Cisco Systems, Inc., Shanmugaraj joined Cisco following its acquisition of Acacia Communications, Inc. in March 2021, where he previously served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a board member for over a decade.
Recognized for his leadership, Shanmugaraj received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Regional Award in 2017. His professional journey includes leadership roles in companies such as Alcatel-Lucent, along with founding and serving as Chief Executive Officer of Astral Point Communications.
Shanmugaraj’s academic background includes an M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Iowa and a B.E. (Honors) in electronics and communications from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy.
