Parade Technologies, a frontrunner in high-speed interface ICs, has broadened its portfolio with the introduction of the PS8481/PS8483 DP 2.1 2:1 retiming MUX/retimer family and the PS8431 HDMI 2.1 2:1 retiming MUX, catering to commercial and consumer PCs, host systems, and peripherals.
The newly launched PS8481 and PS8483 support DisplayPort 2.1 with staggering bandwidth capabilities, reaching up to 80Gbps total bandwidth, adhering fully to VESA DP 2.1 standards. Meanwhile, the PS8431, in compliance with HDMI 2.1 specifications, offers Forward Error Correction (FRL) support up to 12Gbps, maintaining backward compatibility with TMDS up to 6Gbps.
An integral feature of these devices is their focus on low power consumption during standby and low-power states, extending the battery life of mobile devices and ensuring compliance with EnergyStar regulations, a significant boon for modern computing.
Jimmy Chiu, Executive VP of Marketing at Parade Technologies, emphasized the significance of these additions to the DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 high-speed interface portfolios. “With PS8481/PS8483 and PS8431, OEMs now possess advanced solutions to bolster their host and peripheral offerings, leveraging Parade’s established technologies in DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1,” he stated.
These new offerings complement Parade’s existing high-speed interface products, such as USB-C DP 2.1 MUX/DeMUX (PS8838/PS8839) and HDMI 2.1 retimer/redriver (PS8419/PS8219) solutions, offering a comprehensive suite for various device integration needs.
The PS8481, PS8483, and PS8431 are currently available for sampling, featuring compact packaging sizes—PS8481 in 4.4×9.7mm 66-pin QFN, PS8483 in 4x8mm 56-pin QFN, and PS8431 in 4.4×9.7mm 66-pin QFN packages. This availability marks a crucial step in empowering manufacturers to incorporate cutting-edge DP 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 technologies into their upcoming products.
