Diodes Launches Power-Efficient ReDriver for Multiple Applications

DIO1072(A)_PI2MEQX2503

Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD) has announced the launch of a cutting-edge, low-power signal ReDriver compliant with MIPI D-PHY 1.2 protocols. The newly introduced PI2MEQX2503 is engineered to regenerate signals at speeds up to 2.5Gbps, facilitating seamless data transmission from cameras to displays across a spectrum of applications, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones, Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, commercial displays, augmented reality headsets, drones, and robots.

Boasting a dual-data-lane equalizer and a single clock lane, the PI2MEQX2503 is designed to counteract losses attributed to PCB, connector, cable, and switching factors. This ReDriver ensures optimal electrical performance, particularly from a CSI2 source to a DSI sink, aligning with the MIPI D-PHY 1.2 specification to accommodate the burgeoning pixel count in camera images, operating at speeds of up to 2.5Gbps.

One of its standout features lies in its power efficiency, consuming a mere 120mW in active mode, significantly surpassing the power efficiency of a ReTimer. Additionally, its low-power modes—5mW, 2mW (ultra-low-power), and 0.2mW (shutdown)—contribute to substantial power savings, augmenting battery life significantly. Customizable receiver equalization, output swing, and pre-emphasis attributes compensate for channel loss with minimal latency across extended trace lengths, all while conserving power.

In a bid to enhance durability, the PI2MEQX2503 boasts an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it well-suited for industrial applications. Notably, this compact ReDriver is packaged in an exceptionally small X1QFN-24 (XEA24) format, measuring a mere 2mm x 4mm.

Available for $0.63 in quantities of 3,500 pieces, the PI2MEQX2503 offers an affordable yet high-performance solution catering to the burgeoning demands for efficient data transmission across diverse technological landscapes.
