Samsung’s OmniTom Elite Paves Way for New CT Era at RSNA Event

NeuroLogica Corp., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., is set to unveil cutting-edge advancements in diagnostic imaging solutions at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting in Chicago from November 26 to November 30.

The spotlight will be on the OmniTom® Elite Photon Counting mobile CT scanner, a pioneering innovation, as NeuroLogica introduces the clinical launch of the OmniTom Elite with PCD. This marks a significant milestone as the first US FDA 510(k) cleared single-source photon counting computed tomography scanner on a mobile system. The technology involves sorting X-ray energies post-scan, capturing photons directly at the detector, and converting their energy into electrical signals.

The OmniTom Elite presents a new era in mobile imaging by offering versatile, real-time capabilities, enabling point-of-care CT for critically ill patients at their bedside, eliminating the need for separate departmental transfers.

Significant upgrades have been incorporated into the OmniTom Elite, allowing current users the opportunity to enhance their scanners with the PCD technology. Additionally, select research partners will collaborate to explore the full potential of OmniTom Elite with PCD, with the University of Dundee among these premier research collaborators.

Professor Iris Grunwald, Chair of Neuroradiology at The University of Dundee, expressed excitement about NeuroLogica’s emerging technologies, citing it as the most significant innovation in imaging in the last decade.

Renaud Maloberti, Head of Business, MCT, highlighted the versatility of the OmniTom Elite, emphasizing its mobility and flexibility in conducting diagnostic tests.

Massachusetts General Hospital is also partnering with NeuroLogica to evaluate the OmniTom Elite with PCD in monitoring post-trauma and post-surgical patients.

Dr. Rajiv Gupta, Neuroradiology Division Chief of Massachusetts General Hospital, hailed the photon-counting detector technology as a pivotal development in CT, anticipating its transformative impact across various medical settings.

The OmniTom Elite with PCD will be showcased at Booth #6113, McCormick Place, with a live demonstration scheduled for Sunday, November 26, at 10:30 am CST. Additionally, a Samsung NeuroLogica Lunch & Learn Event titled “Photon Counting: The Next Generation of Neuro CT” will be hosted by Dr. Rajiv Gupta and Professor Iris Grunwald on Sunday, November 26, from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm CST at McCormick Place.
