Belgium-based 3D printing pioneer Materialise NV (NASDAQ:MTLS) has announced the appointment of Brigitte de Vet-Veithen as its new Chief Executive Officer. De Vet-Veithen, who currently serves as Executive Vice President of Materialise Medical, will succeed Fried Vancraen, one of the company’s co-founders, on January 1, 2024. Vancraen, who has been Materialise’s CEO for 33 years, will transition into the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Materialise, a company instrumental in shaping the 3D printing industry, aims to continue its mission of innovation under de Vet-Veithen’s leadership. During her tenure at Materialise, she played a key role in the growth of Materialise Medical, the company’s fastest-growing and most profitable segment.

Reflecting on the transition, Vancraen expressed confidence in de Vet-Veithen’s ability to lead Materialise into the future. “I am proud of what we have accomplished through our efforts to improve and save patient lives and to advance the industrial production process with innovative 3D printing solutions,” said Vancraen. “Brigitte has the perfect combination of internal and external experience and has demonstrated a deep commitment to Materialise’s mission and its people.”

De Vet-Veithen, a seasoned business leader with over three decades of experience, emphasized her excitement about Materialise’s future. “As 3D printing establishes itself as an essential tool in the production toolbox, Materialise is ideally positioned to capitalize on the tremendous opportunities ahead and to continue driving the growth of our industry,” she stated.

Materialise, active in 20 countries and publicly traded on Nasdaq since 2014, remains at the forefront of technological innovation. Vancraen, while stepping down as CEO, will continue to provide strategic direction to the company in his role as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Co-founder Mrs. Ingelaere will focus on her duties as a Board member, while Materialise’s Executive Committee will operate under de Vet-Veithen’s presidency starting January 1, 2024.
