Global air compressor manufacturer, Elgi Equipments Limited, has unveiled AirAlert, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Air Compressor Monitoring System, for the Indian market. Following a successful launch at the Hannover Messe in Germany earlier this year, the ELGi AirAlert smart 24/7 remote monitoring and alert system is now accessible to ELGi’s customers in India, catering to both new and existing installations.
AirAlert represents a data transmission and analysis service designed to continuously monitor critical parameters and provide actionable insights and alerts to users. This data empowers customers to enhance uptime and maximize efficiency by offering intelligent monitoring and comprehensive information about air compressor performance. Additionally, AirAlert enables users to take proactive measures to prevent potential failures. The system facilitates round-the-clock remote monitoring of the air compressor and offers real-time trend graphs and insights into operating parameters, including discharge pressure, oil temperature, variable frequency drive (VFD) speed (if equipped), total running hours, trips, and live alerts through an online interface accessible remotely from anywhere worldwide.
Notably, Air~Alert offers notifications regarding scheduled maintenance and fault occurrences, with predictive insights into common failures. Monthly summary reports on overall health and operating parameters, including upcoming service requirements and preventative maintenance recommendations derived from collected data, are delivered to customers.
The operational and performance data from compressors are securely acquired by AirAlert from the compressor controller, transmitted in encrypted form, and sent to dedicated AirAlert servers in the cloud. Utilizing intelligent algorithms, the data is processed to provide predictive alerts, comprehensive reports, and discernible trends, all presented in easy-to-read actionable dashboards for operators.
Throughout this process, the structured and analyzed data aids in planning maintenance activities, thereby facilitating energy efficiency improvements with the compressor. The Air~Alert system also includes a failure prediction module, capable of forecasting potential future compressor failures. Ultimately, the collected data is translated into comprehensible alerts and reports, allowing users to take timely action.
Elgi’s Air~Alert equips users with highly informative utilization trends that provide actionable intelligence, enabling corrective actions such as optimizing operating pressure bands based on utilization rates, transitioning from a fixed-speed unit to a variable speed VFD unit, adding a retrofit VFD, installing an energy-efficient, smaller compressor for low utilization scenarios, and detecting leaks based on unexpected changes in utilization rates over time.
The Air~Alert device is compatible with new ELGi EG, AB, and OF Series compressors as a factory-fitted option or can be retrofitted on units with a Neuron III or III+ controller.
Elgi’s introduction of Air~Alert in India reflects the company’s commitment to advancing compressed air system monitoring, offering users enhanced control, reliability, and efficiency in their operations.
