pSemi Corporation, a leading semiconductor integration company under Murata, has unveiled its latest SP4T switches boasting remarkable broadband frequency coverage of up to 8 GHz. The newly introduced PE42445 switch in a high-isolation 3×3 mm package and the PE42446 switch in a high-isolation 4×4 mm package deliver exceptional linearity and industry-leading isolation performance, making them essential components for 5G base stations.
Designed to seamlessly integrate into 4G and 5G base stations as well as massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (mMIMO) architectures, the PE42445 and PE42446 switches play a crucial role in maintaining signal integrity and preventing interference. They enable digital pre-distortion (DPD) feedback loops and transmitter monitoring signal paths, which are essential for the smooth operation of massive MIMO applications. With their high reliability and extended operating temperature range, these new high-isolation SP4T switches find applications in a wide range of fields, including DPD and VSWR monitoring, portable wireless radios, repeaters, E911 systems, and test and Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) equipment.
Vikas Choudhary, Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, and System Engineering at pSemi, expressed excitement about the company’s ability to offer industry-leading performance with the highest broadband frequency coverage of up to 8 GHz in a high-isolation SP4T switch. Vikas highlighted the advantages these new switches bring to customers in the construction of 5G base stations and mMIMO architectures, such as superior isolation performance and high linearity. He also emphasized the flexibility offered to customers by providing a choice between the compact 3×3 mm or 4×4 mm form factors. Vikas concluded by reaffirming pSemi’s commitment to pushing boundaries and achieving industry-first milestones through their design expertise.
The PE42445 and PE42446 switches come in a 20-lead (3×3 mm) LGA package and a 24-lead (4×4 mm) LGA package, respectively. These switches boast greater than 60 dB isolation, ensuring interference-free operations and the preservation of signal integrity. They are designed to operate within an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Engineered to meet the demands of high-isolation SP4T switches, the new products offer low insertion loss across the frequency band, a high linearity of 60 dBm IIP3, and fast switching time of 250 nanoseconds.
Samples of the PE42445/46 SP4T high-isolation switches are currently available, and they are expected to be commercially available in the fourth quarter of 2023, catering to the growing needs of the industry.
