Pune Moves a Step Head in Setting Up Electronics Manufacturing Clusters, First MCCIA Electronics Cluster Foundation Inaugurated

Minister for Industries and Mining, Subhash Desai inaugurated Maratha Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) Electronics Cluster Foundation (MECF) in Pune on Saturday. The cluster will help setting up of electronics manufacturing clusters for promoting electronics system design and manufacturing.

 

He praised MCCIA for taking the initiative which will create specialised facilities for testing, certification, calibration, design and simulation among other facilities for the Electronics industry. Desai further added that this will enable the electronics industry to come out with world-class products and services.

 

He added that the center will provide knowledge-based equipment and certification accepted in international markets. Desai said that MECF, which is a prestigious facility, is a welcome addition to Pune and Maharashtra’s industrial infrastructure. SEMs from the electronics sector who are unable to afford expensive equipment for testing and development will find this Common Facility Centre very useful, he added. Desai further stated that the potential Investors from Electronics and dependent sectors who look for world-class facilities in their respective sectors will also find this Centre immensely valuable.

 

He mentioned that the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra are implementing several Cluster Projects in Urban and Rural areas of the Maharashtra State.

 

MeitY earlier announced financial assistance for setting up Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) for promoting Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). Pune has been declared a brownfield cluster, which comes under the EMC scheme including providing financial assistance for the development/up-gradation of common infrastructure and facilities to enhance the competitiveness of existing units in an are notified as a Brownfield EMC.

 

The President of MCCIA, Sudhir Mehta stated that this project is a dream come true for the Chamber and expressed his gratitude to the Government of India, Maharashtra State, Industry Contributors, operating partners for their contributions to making this project a reality.

 

The immediate past president of MCCIA and Chairman of MECF presented the details of the facilities. On this occasion, the first Test Report from the MECF facility was handed over by TuV Rehinland to Melux Controls.

 

Rajesh Patil, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner, mentioned that MCCIA has made a tremendous contribution and worked continuously with PCMC to promote industrial development and many initiatives in Pimpri Chinchwad City.

 

MCCIA has initiated a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to promote the development of EMC by setting up a Common Facility Center (CFC) in Pune, which will help the electronics industries in Pune and surrounding areas in terms of the latest technology, cost competitiveness, faster turnaround time and others. This will enable the Pune region to become a preferred destination for electronics design-led manufacturing, which will help in developing an entrepreneurial ecosystem, drive innovation and catalyse economic growth by increasing employment opportunities and tax revenues.

 

The new Cluster is a state-of-the-art facility located in Bhosari MIDC with about 27000 sq. ft. built-up area with the latest technology equipment.
